It’s that time of year again, the kids are headed back to school! Along with the ever growing list of materials teachers want your kids to schlep into the classroom this week, we’ve got another item to add to your to-do list, an eye exam. Even if your kid hasn’t mentioned anything about blurry vision or headaches, keep in mind that their eyes may be changing just as quickly as their height.

These changes can happen at any time as your child grows, but it’s the 6- 7 age range that Myopia most commonly begins to show. Myopia, or nearsightedness, is also the most common eye condition for children and can change and advance rapidly, especially between the ages of 11 – 13. Typically, changing eyes will stabilize in the late teens or early twenties, but in the meantime can be problematic, especially in the classroom. Making Eye Exams a back to school tradition can save you the trouble of the many problems caused by uncorrected vision.

Blurry vision is not only fatiguing for your young student, but can cause headaches and be the cause for distraction or disinterest at school. Keeping up with eye exams can help your kids keep up in class, and what better time is there to unveil a new style of eyewear than the first day of school?
